“I work with form as a conduit — not to represent reality, but to reveal the pulse beneath it. Each sculpture is an attempt to conjure an invisible principle into being, often discovered only after the work is made. I call this process arcanamorphosis: a recursive return of the archetype, of the myth, and of the seer.”

ABOUT

Alex Hagentorn (b. 1990, Bucharest, Romania) is a Los Angeles-based contemporary artist, designer, and sculptor. A graduate of the USC School of Architecture, Hagentorn continues to develop a distinct visual language that channels subconscious emotion through material form.

Influenced by the legacy of Constantin Brâncuși, his work oscillates between traditional craftsmanship and technological innovation, cultivating a dialogue between past and future. His connection with Brâncuși is not only rooted in shared heritage but in a shared pursuit — to unveil objects that evoke visual archetypes of myth, creation, origin, and becoming.

Hagentorn's life began in the shadow of Bucharest's revolutionary upheaval, leading to his immediate adoption and relocation to Los Angeles. This formative passage imbued his practice with urgency, adaptability, and a profound reverence for the beauty and chaos of life.

With the support of discerning collectors, designers, and institutions, Hagentorn’s sculptures have been exhibited in galleries, art fairs, magazines, and architectural landmarks including the Schindler House and the Philip Johnson Glass House.
